Friendship
Friendship, a precious gift without which life would be so boring. It is the very joy of our existence. Friends may come and go, but you will always carry them in your memories. True friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget. Can any of you imagine life without friends?
Full of similar thoughts and feelings I wrote this poem about friendship when I was in 5th grade. The motivation for this poem came from an old and dusty memento belonging to my grand father, that said "of all the gifts great and small, friendship is the best of all"!
FRIENDSHIP
Of all the gifts great and small
Friendship is the best of all
Friends make you happy and gay
And take from your life the drab and grey
Friends if they are real and true
Will always, always stand by you
Friends help you when in need
They are the best gifts indeed!
I have many friends in my life, but three of them will be forever in my heart. Let’s call them R, D and F. I have known F from my daycare days. Recently we moved into the same apartment as hers and now we both get to spend a lot of time together. Our love for the same kind of books, similar music and the same subjects at school gives us a lot to do together. We make up stupid parodies and silly games in the school bus and all the way when we walk back from the bus stop to our homes. But we certainly do not agree on everything at all times and then we end up arguing with each other. But thank God we make up and move on in no time.
During my 3rd grade I made another close friend, R. We both were best of friends for a year and then D joined our class. In the beginning we were not sure, but then slowly she became part of our gang. R took a while to warm up to D. In the initial days she would talk to me for ages, but when D came around, she would just go on mute. Finally the three of us settled down nicely with each other. Things were going great, and we were having a good time in class. Then, the next year our classes got shuffled, D and I are now in the same class and R moved to another section. But we never stopped being the threesome that we were. We regularly meet during the snacks and the lunch breaks. We occasionally have sleepovers and then we stay up all night talking! Our friendship and trust for each other is as strong as an iron rod, and I hope it never rusts, ever!
Talking about trust and friendship, here’s another poem titled "Trust", that I wrote during my summer break last year, at my grandma’s place.
TRUST
Trust is the most expensive thing
More costly than a diamond ring
It takes years and years to gain
Years of hard work, toil and pain
A mistake however small
Lets trust break and fall
TRUST
Trust is the most expensive thing

It takes years and years to gain
Years of hard work, toil and pain
A mistake however small
Lets trust break and fall
An Awesome ode to friendship and trust ! Keep writing more and more !!
